| Specimen Required: |
Collect: Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), yellow (ACD Solution A), plasma preparation tube, or serum separator tube. OR throat, nasopharyngeal, or eye swabs.
Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells within two hours of collection. Transfer 0.85 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.35 mL) OR transfer swabs to 3 mL viral transport media (Microtest M4 or UTM) (ARUP supply #12884). Available online through eSupply using ARUP Connect™ or contact ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787.
Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Also acceptable: Frozen.
Remarks: Specimen source required.
Unacceptable Conditions: Calcium alginate swabs.
Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
