Specimen Required: Collect: Plain red.

Specimen Preparation: Allow specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum from cells immediately to avoid release of NSE from blood cells. Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Frozen.

Unacceptable Conditions: Plasma. Hemolyzed specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

3.7-8.9 µg/L
Interpretive Data: This assay is performed using the CanAg® Neuron Specific Enolase Enzyme Immunoassay. Results obtained with different assay methods or kits cannot be used interchangeably.
