Specimen Required: Collect: Plain red. Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA or K3EDTA), green (sodium or lithium heparin), or gray (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate).

Specimen Preparation: Separate serum or plasma from cells within 6 hours of collection. Transfer 2 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Gel separator tubes or gels of any kind; drug loss is immediate and no testing will be performed.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 6 weeks; Refrigerated: 6 weeks; Frozen: 6 weeks
