Wildcards Symbol (*)

The wildcard symbol (*) can be used in place of letters or characters in query words to search for different permutations of a word.

*	Can be in any position in the term and matches any number of characters.

Boolean Parameters

Search terms can be a single word or several words. The search engine automatically inserts and between words if nothing else is specified, so the Boolean term and can be omitted in search terms. For example, searching for tissue assay is the same as searching for tissue AND assay.

Quotes can be used to search for phrases. For example:

Specimen Required:	Collect: Serum separator tube or plasma separator tube. Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA) or pink (K₂EDTA). Specimen Preparation: Allow serum specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Transport 1 mL serum or plasma. (Min: 0.2 mL) Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated. Unacceptable Conditions: Whole blood. Frozen or room temperature specimens. Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: Unacceptable

Reference Interval: 0-234 ng/mL
Interpretive Data:	Patients with high lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A₂ concentrations greater than or equal to 235 ng/mL are at increased risk for cardiovascular events including myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. The median lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A₂ value for a healthy population is 235 ng/mL. This test is performed pursuant to an agreement with diaDexus, Inc.
