Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube or plain red. Also acceptable: lavender (EDTA) or pink (K2EDTA).

Specimen Preparation: Allow serum tube to sit for 15-20 minutes at room temperature for proper clot formation. Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.3 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Frozen.

Unacceptable Conditions: Heparinized specimens. Hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 2 hours; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen: 3 months

Healthy Individuals 10.0-57.0 ng/mL
Chronic Pancreatitis 46.0 ng/mL or less
Acute Pancreatitis 92.0-850.0 ng/mL
Total Pancreatectomy 1.4 ng/mL or less
