Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation: Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.3 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature: Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions: Plasma or other body fluids. Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year

12-18 U/mL: Equivocal. Suggest repeat testing in 4-6 weeks or consider antibody testing for cardiolipin IgG and IgM, beta-2 glycoprotein 1 IgG and IgM and lupus anticoagulant.
19 U/mL or greater: Positive
Phosphatidylinositol Antibody, IgM 0-11 U/mL: Normal
12-18 U/mL: Equivocal. Suggest repeat testing in 4-6 weeks or consider antibody testing for cardiolipin IgG and IgM, beta-2 glycoprotein 1 IgG and IgM and lupus anticoagulant.
