Creatine Kinase Isoenzymes : 0020414

Mnemonic: CKISO

Methodology: Quantitative Enzymatic/Electrophoresis
Performed: Sun-Sat
Reported: Between 2 and 3 days
Specimen Required: Collect: Serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation: Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL) CK-MB and CK-BB are quite labile; specimens should be frozen if the assay cannot be performed within 24 hours.

Storage/Transport Temperature: Frozen.

Remarks: This test will detect CK macroenzymes.

Unacceptable Conditions: Specimens preserved in citrate, EDTA, fluoride, heparin, or iodoacetate. Room temperature specimens.

Stability (collection to initiation of testing): After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen: 2 weeks (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
