In an interview with Washington G2 Reports' Diagnostic Testing and Technology Report, Brian Jackson, MD, ARUP’s medical director of Informatics, discusses the benefits of ARUP's ATOP program, which assigns a team of ARUP pathologists and data analysts, as well as University of Utah School of Medicine faculty, to analyze a client’s test-ordering patterns and assess the clinical and economic impact of suboptimal test ordering. Offering Emory Medical Laboratory, which saved $75,000 per year as a result of ATOP, as an example, Dr. Jackson states that ATOP is an invaluable screening tool.
